I officially now have a tattoo! It’s from Galatians 2:20. It’s very short, simple and sweet. I love this verse because it’s a simple phrase but it has the most profound meaning. Living out Galatians 2:20 is like living out the Beautiful Exchange.

Do you want to experience a life that’s full of excitement and a life that’s worth living, then you have to exchange your life over His. Following Him isn’t easy, you and I will suffer because Christ Himself suffered, but the beauty about it is we get to suffer along side with Christ and when we leave this place called ‘earth’ we get to spend eternity with Him.

If you claim to be a Follower of Christ, God has promised that He has already prepared a calling in your life but unless we allow that ‘Beautiful Exchange’ to take place, we will remain a ‘Fan of Christ’ rather a ‘Follower of Christ.’

One last thing, Christ life was marked with submission and full obedience to the Father. When we understand this truth, we unlock the key to having a transformed and radical life by exchanging our lives For His.

“YOUR LOVE HAS SET ME FREE” is a tattoo done by Elize Nazelie from Brilliance Tattoo in Boston, MA. It took over 6 hours to complete and it is a mix of illustrative and realism styles.

I come from a very religious upbringing and after so many years of living under pressure, guilt and fear in church; God mercifully revealed Himself to me - completely apart from religion.

It is so incredible to know and have a relationship with God instead of having to fulfill man’s demands that I wanted to incorporate into this tattoo the Holy Spirit (dove) flying down over my heart set ablaze by the flames representing God’s love and a sword piercing through representing the word of God. The 5 flowers represent the number of God’s grace as well as the spiritual gifts and talents God entrusted me to be a blessing.

Just got this done a couple weeks ago. I got it done almost exactly a year after I became a Christian. I’ve had lots of people walk out, disappoint, and fail me in my life. This represents the awesome love of Christ that will never fail me.

My tattoo is a very detailed story of my life thus far, but specific events that have made my life into one which I want to follow Christ as much as I can and know God to the best of my abilities. The Cross is the representation of Christ in my life, how He is the cornerstone for all things I do. It’s formed by the 3 nails used to nail Him to the wooden cross. Behind it is a blue flower which is a Rose of Sharon, and a red one which is a Henna/Camphire flower. Both are found in the “Song of Solomon” in the Bible. My husband is the Camphire/Henna while I am the Rose of Sharon, and our love is as eternal as God’s love for us. Below is Revelation 22:13 and this the second most important piece of my tattoo. Before my husband and I married, we were searching to make God the absolute base of our relationship, but doing things impure and inappropriate before marriage. In seeking to correct our behaviors, a generational curse was brought out of me where I was possessed. My husband worked with his life long family pastor to exorcise me for a whole week. It was a long and exhausting experience for the both of us, but we could tell when the fight was over when he read from Revelation Ch. 22. Specifically, Revelation 22:13 “I am the alpha and the omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” (Multiple Translations read it this way.) or “I am Alap and I am Tau, The First and The Last, The Origin and The Fulfillment.” (Aramaic Bible as Read in English). If the battle was not over, the demon/spirit would return and lash out at the sound of God’s Voice as my husband read from His Word. But when all was done, and those words no longer brought it out, we knew Christ had overcome it and I was finally free. We rejoiced with rest, prayer, and my husband bought me a cross necklace to symbolize the freedom we now both shared and could finally be married. God is so Good.

These are my 3rd and 4th tattoos

These tattoos mean God Almighty (El-Shaddai), my Owner (Adonai). Now, before all you huge theologians come at me, I know that is not a literal translation. There are many different ways people translate this but for me God Almighty my owner means more than anything. It reminds me that I was bought with a price and that I am owned by a Holy God.

This tattoo represents the Armor of God passage in Ephesians chapter 6 which talks about standing firm in the faith and putting on the helmet of salvation, sword of the spirit, breastplate of righteousness, belt of truth, and feet equipped to spread the Gospel message. I love it because it is a daily reminder to stand firm in the faith! Be a soldier for Christ everyday.

I got this a few months ago, and it’s my new favorite addition. I love it. It looks a little gross because this was about 30 seconds after i got this done. I’ve been through a lot, and when i was drowning in demons and struggling to hold on, my friend started taking me to church with her. At this time I was cutting again, i was struggling with an eating disorder, I was terrified at the thought there was a strong possibility i was pregnant (I was 18), and i was just depressed. Very depressed, and suicidal.

I used to go to church when i was a little kid, but not recently really. I went every wednesday evening. It changed my life. I’d always said i believed in God, but i really never showed it. I only prayed when i wanted something, and then i’d sort of ignore Him until i needed Him again.
I cried almost every time i had went to church with her. Sometimes because of sadness, usually because of happiness. Either way, it was where i became comfortable. Everyone there genuinely cared.

I’ve been almost 8 months clean now of self harm now, I don’t remember the last time i starved myself, or purged, and i’ve found positivity in everything. I love God with every fiber of my being and i’m slowly and surely bettering myself as a person, for Him, and me. I pray really close to every single day. Sometimes once, sometimes more. He’s saved me. I’ve found my reason to live.

I had a really rough childhood and really had no self esteem whatsoever. My freshman year of highschool, my best friend brought me to church and it changed my life. Through christ, I have become new.

Referencing 1 Peter 2:24, “by His wounds you are healed,” and Isaiah 53:5, “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”

“by His wounds I have been healed,” a beautiful statement that I do not deserve and will never get over. Jehovah Rophi, the Healer. Something I wanted to be reminded of daily.

One day at work I saw a NOTW sticker on a car in this design, and immediately knew it was referencing one of my favorite verses, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” I knew right then it would be my next tattoo. It might be weird to get inspired by a bumper sticker, but having it on my wrist is a really good reminder for myself, and offers a lot of opportunities to share Scripture when people ask me what it says!
